What is OSHA?

OSHA stands for Occupational Safety and Health Act. The Occupational Safety and Health Act is an Act which provides the legislative framework to secure the safety, health and welfare among all Malaysian workforce and to protect others against risks to safety or health in connection with the activities of persons at work. How do I get my OSHA license in Malaysia? To be a registered competent Safety and Health Officer with the Department of Occupational Safety & Health, you will need to:

1. Attend a Safety and Health Officer course and pass the exam*

2. Obtain at least 3 years of working experience related to the occupational safety and health field.

3. Pass a verification session conducted by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), if requested

Personal Sharing:

1. New law never indicates full time on site. Only indicates employer must hire them.

2. Once, twice or 3 times site visit per week depends on the risk of the job. In the risk assessment must indicate whether or not all site activities who is accountable.

3. If SSS is accountable then he/she must be full time. If engineer or supervisor is accountable for the activities then SSS only come once or twice to monitor the safety compliance.
